Woolacombe 2nd June 2009, 0-1ft

This was the state of play at Woolacombe beach this morning. Beautiful, but you might as well try surfing on a lake! (Not even enough for me to learn on.)

This photograph is looking south towards Putsborough (the other end of the same beach). The headland at the end is what protects Putsborough from some of the sea detritus washed in, from southerly winds and some currents. If - given a particular day's wind/conditions - you find Woolacombe beach itself is a bit exposed: try Putsborough for a more sheltered surf.
